EBSA Colombia Power Distribution
EBSA (Power Company Boyacá), an electrical power distributor in Colombia, has deployed a communications system to control and monitor the status of their service while enhancing the quality and additionally complying with the standards required by the Colombian Regulatory Commission for Energy and Gas (CREG). EBSA provides energy for the entire state of Boyacá, supplying approximately 1,500,000 people with power in 123 municipalities across an area of over 23,000 square kilometers (8,880 square miles).
Ford Engine Plants Energy Management System
Ford Motor Company opened a new engine assembly plant in Chihuahua City, Mexico in 2009 for the assembly of their new Super Duty diesel engine. This new plant has focused on operational efficiency in areas that have rarely been considered for automation. In a modern manufacturing plant all cost savings must be considered. Previously lower power consumption systems such as lighting, heating and cooling were rarely considered for automation. Ford has installed an innovative plant-wide Energy Management System for environmental monitoring and control that has provided a lower environmental impact at a great cost savings.
Klickitat PUD Power Distribution
Klickitat County Public Utility District PUD is a leader in the power revolution. Klickitat PUD, a municipal subdivision of the State of Washington, provides electricity to almost 10,000 customers and water and sewer to 800 customers, over a 1,800 square mile area in south central Washington. In the past Klickitat PUD purchased 100% of its electric power from the Bonneville Power Administration but under a new negotiated contact signed in June 1996, they are now allowed to purchase up to 25% of their power on the open market. In early September 1997, after conducting a Request for Proposals for system integrators, Klickitat County PUD awarded a contract to Programmable Control Services (PCS) Inc., an authorized Allen-Bradley Systems Integrator, to install a state-of-the-art PLC based Supervisdory Control and Data Acquisition SCADA system.
