The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has mandated that by January 1, 2013, all licensees and users of radio systems operating in the VHF 150 – 174 MHz and the UHF 450 – 512 MHz portions of the of the radio spectrum, convert their systems and radios so that they are operating on 12.5 kHz rather than the current wideband 25 kHz channels. This mandate has been put into place to bring about spectrum efficiency and as a result, to create additional channels to accommodate the demand of public safety and local government users.  The ESTeem Model 192 series of wireless modems is compatible with all narrowband requirements but does require a software update in each wireless modem.  To simplify the update process we have put together a complete narrowband update package now available.

The ESTeem Model 195Ea is the latest generation wireless modem offering 6 to 54 Mbps RF data rates in the low noise, 5.8 GHz radio spectrum for Ethernet/IP, Serial/DF1, and Remote I/O applications.  The ESTeem 195Ea has the self healing MESH feature for creating wireless networks over large geographical areas.  The MESH feature also builds robust networks by automatically rerouting the communication path if a problem arises with the primary path.   The MESH Network allows mobile clients to roam seamlessly under the wireless canopy.

On August 3, 2010 the City of Airdrie, Canada managed to avoid evacuation after a Canadian Pacific (CP) train carrying ammonia derailed north of the city. Within minutes Paul Hurst, a network administrator and crew installed a back-up ESTeem 195Eg 2.4GHz Wireless Modem in Fire Chief Sheldon Leavitt’s Yukon allowing him to access the city Mobile Network infrastructure and VOIP. After the hard work from the CP Derailment Team and HazMat crews, the derailment was made safe for citizens on August 5, 2010. Mr. Hurst teamed with Sean Walinga from Secure Group to extend the network; establishing a remote ESTeem Mobile Repeater near the derailment site and another at the Logistics Operations Center (LOC) to provide the CP Train Derailment Crews with network and VOIP telephone access. “While we had discussed at length the capabilities of the ESTeem Radio Network, utilizing VOIP over the mobile network had never been tested by the City of Airdrie“says Paul Hurst “we were confident that the two year old installation would expand to meet the demands of the organization, and today we confirmed it”. Mr. Kirchner, who served with the U.S. Navy Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron One in Vietnam, has a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Arizona and was Regent of Theta Tau fraternity during his senior year. He worked for the Boeing Company, Westinghouse-Hanford and AE International before starting Electronic Systems Technology in 1982. The former Richland Rotary Club president has two U.S. patents, five invention awards and an R&D 100 Award for the Wireless Modem to his credit. Mr. Kirchner was formally recognized as a Theta Tau Hall of Fame Laureate and was presented a plaque commemorating the event. The Sam Volpentest Award has recognized entrepreneurial spirit and leadership in the Tri-Cities since 1997. Mr. Volpentest moved to the Tri-Cities in 1949 and was a tireless lobbyist for the Tri-Cities which is comprised of Richland, Pasco, Kennewick, and the Hanford Nuclear Reservation. Mr. Volpentest died in 2005 at the age of 101 as the oldest registered lobbyist in Congress.

ESTeem Wireless Modems receives U.S. Department of Commerce’s Export Achievement Certificate

(EST) (OTCBB: ELST); dba ESTeem Wireless Modems, a manufacturer of the ESTeem® product line of wireless modems, was awarded an Export Achievement Award on October 2, 2008 at the Smartmap Expo held at the Three Rivers Convention Center, Kennewick, WA. The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Export Achievement Certificate recognizes companies that are business clients of the Commerce Department’s U.S. Commercial Service, and have successfully entered the international marketplace. Foreign operations account for 30% of ESTeem Wireless Modem’s total 2007 net revenues. This is an increase of 82% over foreign exports for 2006. Within the foreign operations segment, Latin America accounts for the majority of ESTeem’s market with 58% of export sales going to countries such as Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, and Venezuela. All foreign operations for the company are based in the United States with ESTeem products and accessories sold primarily through foreign resellers, as well as to end customers directly.
